Mark your calendars! The carnival dates have been set! June 14-16 will be the NEW NORWOOD CARNIVAL!!! To help get this great event up and running we are looking for corporate sponsorship as well as donations from friends and family.

Author Day

One of the best events at Norwood School. Authors come throughout the school year for all the grade levels to discuss their books and writing process. Both students and staff love this wonderful experience.

Halloween Parade

Get your costumes on and get out to march in our annual Halloween Parade! One of the best loved days of the year- the kids change into princesses, super heros, and goblins for an afternoon of parading and parties!

Field Day

Go Gold! Go Blue! What team will win this year? Each June, the students show their school spirit by competing in outdoor fun filled games and activities- a great day for all!

Author Day

Who doesn't love Pinkerton? Award winning author Steven Kellogg came to our school to discuss his books and show us how his illustrations come to life. He actually had a dog just like Pinkerton! Watch this You Tube clip to see more.

Grandparents Day

Grand Parents Day

Best day ever! Each year, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, is Grandparents Day- the best ticket in town! The kids put on a great show and our special relatives have a wonderful time celebrating with us!

Welcome

May, 2012

May is here and many of us are already getting into summer mode. Pools are opening, registration for many summer programs has begun, and there is a lot of talk of summer vacation plans. However, May is a very busy month at school. We are moving full speed ahead with no signs of stopping!!

NJASK testing takes place throughout the month of May for grades 3-8. Please make sure that your child gets enough sleep and eats a good breakfast on testing days. There are so many wonderful class trips and school events scheduled in May, be sure to check the school calendar for these important dates. Here is just a small sample of what’s in store this month…

The annual Staff Appreciation Lunch will be held on May 2nd this year. There are always many wonderful dishes brought in by the families for sampling at this event. If you can send in something special for lunch, please return the flyer so you are added to the menu.

We are also really looking forward to the Talent Show this year on May 11th. Everything from jugglers, to musicians, to dancers, and singers- come down to see your friends show off their amazing talents.

Chicago City Limits will come to entertain grades 5-8 and show them how to do improv and think on their feet! That will be a great Cultural Arts show!! We also have our Spring Concert and 3rd Grade Recorder Concert planned as well.

Our next PTO meeting is our annual dinner meeting. This year it will be held at Dimora’s Restaurant on May 9th. Come to celebrate another great year and all that we have accomplished! We should all be proud of how hard we work and what we contribute to NPS!!

Enjoy the Memorial Day holiday and remember to thank a veteran.

Sincerely,
Samantha Fruhling
PTO President
