February, 2010
February may be a short month, but there is a lot going on at school.
Our month begins with a pilot program to continue our extremely popular Eyes on Art program into the 6th grade. Author Gordon Korman will be coming to speak to our students in grades 3-5 on Friday, February 5. We also have a fantastic music program as part of Ears Tuned to Music coming to visit us on February 9.
Be sure to come to our next PTO meeting on Wednesday, February 10 at 10 am in the lunchroom. Come be informed about what is happening in our school, what programs are in the works and how our parent group works to improve the educational experience of all the children of Norwood Public School.
When we return from break, NPS will hold Kindergarten Registration from February 22-26 for children who will be in Kindergarten in September. Winter Wonderland will finish off the month on Saturday, February 27, at Madeline’s Petit Paris on Tappan Road in Northvale. Don’t miss this annual parent event. If you have never participated in a PTO function, this is the one to go to. It’s a great place to meet so many parents from our school.
If you have any thoughts or ideas you would like to share with us, please let us know. We would love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Colleen Steele
PTO President
NORWOOD PTO IS GOING GREENER!
This Weeks Reminder

- Winter Wonderland is rapidly approaching. Be sure to return your reservation for before break.
- Attention grades 6-8. Last call for book orders for Robert Lipsyte’s visit next month. Orders will be sent on Wednesday, so if you did not order your favorite, send it in today.
- Do you have a child in the school play? Ads, boosters and t-shirt forms are on the website and are due back by Friday, February 12. You can also access a link to the updated schedule from Mrs. Sullivan.
- Find out what is happening in our school. Attend the Board of Education meeting on Monday at 8 pm and the PTO meeting on Wednesday at 10 am. You don’t need to be involved to be informed.
- Grocery gift cards orders are due Friday. If every family in our school ordered just $50 worth of gift cards to use towards purchasing groceries each month we would earn $1,000 each month to use for programs and activities. Everyone needs groceries, why not use gift cards to pay for some of them.
- Box tops is giving away 1,000 bonus box tops. Go to www.boxtops4education.com or use the link on our website to enter for our school today.
