Norwood PTO Fall Enrichment Classes 2011
It is our pleasure to present the fall 2011 session o the Norwood PTOEnrichment Program. Wehave
added new and different clubs this session while attempting to keep class sizes small, so the children can
benefit from individualized attention. The program starts on Tuesday October 4,2011. Classesmeet from
3:15 pm to 4:15 pm unless otherwise indicated. Please check the class descriptions for exact meeting

ADMISSIONS & ENROLLMENT
Classesare open to all public and private school children in the area. Children must be in the indicated
grade level to be admitted to a class, unless approved by the instructor. Norwood Public School students
receive priority. Classsize is limited and classes are filled on a first~come, first served basis. Classesare
subject to cancellation or combination due to insufficient enrollment. Classroom assignments will be
provided before the first day of class. Students are expected to maintain behavioral standards consistent
with school policy or will be removed from the program with no refund.
REGISTRATION
In person Registration will be on Tuesday September 13th from 6:00 -7:30 p.m. in the Norwood Public
School APR. Payment must be made by check, payable to the Norwood PTO. No refunds will be made.
Drop off Registration will begin on Wednesday September 14thin the PTOEnrichment Mailbox located
across from the front office. Dro~ff registration ends September 22nd at 3:00. All payments must be
made with registration. Please make all checks payable to Norwood PTO.
INCLEMENT WEATHER AND CLASS CANCELLATIONS
Classesare automatically cancelled if school is either suspended or closed that day. Weekday classes may
also be cancelled, at the instructor’s discretion, due to inclement weather or a personal emergency. Every
attempt win be made to announce these ahead of time. Any last minute cancellations will be announced
during school and an attempt will be made to reach the parent at the emergency contact phone number
listed on the enrollment form. It is the parent’s responsibility to check for messages regarding
cancellations that may be left at this phone number. Instructors will make every attempt to provide a
substitute of make up all cancelled classes. The instructor will notify you of mak~up times.

Students will choose from several, contemporary novels and meet in small groups to discuss and analyze key points including symbolism, character are, author style, etc. A fun and lighthearted environment will hone your children’s reading skills while engendering a lifelong love of literature.

- Imagination Sketchers
Abrakadoodle 5 weeks Grades 2 and up $90.00Grab a pencil and join our imaginative drawing and painting class! Inspiration comes from Dog Mountain, home to artist Ron Huneck who creates friendly, curious dogs, to rock star status Japanese artist Takashi Murakami the creator of cartoon characters. Through this
premium drawing program, children will learn about contour drawing, patterning, font design, cartooning and other drawing techniques. Classes build confidence and creativity while exploring fun and interesting artists and artist styles.

Mrs. Argenti – 5 weeks – Grades 3 and up – $70.00Get your fingers ready for beadsl Tiny beaded creatures, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, pendants or pins will be many of the things we will make in this class. In addition to learning the basic techniques and use of tools for jewelry making, you will see how to weave beads into miniature animal,S,which can be made into pendants or pins. - No Gym, No Problem

There is no gym available, but that does not stop Mrs. Walsh. Come play knock hockey, paper football, jump rope, hula hoops, balloon volleyball, hop scotch, cup stacking, bowling, ping pong and fun board games such as Checkers, Connect Four and Uno. See, no problem!

- Amazing Miniatures
Mrs. Argenti 4 weeks Grades 3 and up $65.00
Turn everyday items into dozens of amazing miniatures. A sponge sandwich, a bead pie, even a golf tee lamp. Have fun creating these tiny recreations of items we see and use daily. Felt, glue, bottle caps, toothpicks and rubber bands are just some of the supplies we will use to complete these petite miniatures.
